Raenest Virtual Card Regional & Usage Guidelines

You can use your Raenest Virtual Card for online and contactless payments where Visa is accepted. However, keep in mind certain regional requirements and usage limitations when creating and using your card.

Where can I create a Raenest Virtual Card?

Users can currently create Raenest Virtual Cards in:

  • Nigeria

  • Ghana

  • Kenya

  • Uganda

  • Egypt

  • South Africa

  • Rwanda

  • Philippines

Which countries are restricted for card payments?

Raenest Virtual Cards cannot be used for payments involving:

  • Cuba

  • Iran

  • North Korea

  • Russia

  • Syria

  • Ukraine

  • Venezuela

These restrictions are currently in place to comply with regulatory requirements. Any changes will be communicated accordingly.

How many virtual cards can I have?

Individual users can have only one active virtual card at a time. If you terminate your card, you can create a new card immediately. However, if you create and terminate another card on the same day, you will need to wait 24 hours before creating another card.

Are there limits to the number of transactions I can make?

Yes. Individual users can make a maximum of:

  • 50 transactions per day

  • 200 transactions per month

These transaction limits are separate from your card's daily and monthly spending limits.

Can I use my Raenest Virtual Card with every merchant?

Raenest Virtual Cards are accepted globally. However, some merchants or merchant categories may be restricted by the card provider (Visa). If your payment is declined, the merchant or transaction type may be the reason.

What happens if I make repeated payment attempts without sufficient funds?

  • Your card is automatically frozen after three consecutive insufficient-funds declines.

  • You can unfreeze your card yourself in the app. However, repeated insufficient-funds declines may eventually result in your card being terminated.

  • The decline rules also treat certain transactions differently. For example, near-miss declines and eligible insufficient-funds declines are handled differently under the card's decline policy.

What should I keep in mind when using my Raenest Virtual Card?

To use your card without unnecessary interruptions:

  • Make sure you are in a supported country before creating your card.

  • Be aware of countries where card payments are restricted.

  • Keep within the daily and monthly transaction limits.

  • Ensure you have enough funds in your linked wallet to cover the full transaction amount and applicable fees.

  • Avoid repeated payment attempts when you do not have sufficient funds.

  • Remember that some merchants or merchant categories may not be supported.

If your card is declined, check that you have enough money to cover the transaction amount and any applicable fees before trying again.

Also note that Raenest charges a $0.40 declination fee. See our card fees page for more details.
