Stablecoins make it easier to move money across borders without the price swings associated with many other cryptocurrencies. On Raenest, you can receive, hold, send, convert, and spend USDC and USDT.
With the latest update, USDC and USDT now have dedicated wallets, giving each stablecoin its own balance, wallet address, and transaction history. Your incoming stablecoins stay in their original form instead of being automatically converted to USD, giving you more control over how you use them. You can also move your USDC or USDT into Stablecoin Vault to earn variable returns over time.
This guide explains how stablecoins work on Raenest, how to open your stablecoin wallet, and how to receive, hold, convert, spend, and send your stablecoins.
What are stablecoins?
Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to maintain a relatively stable value by being tied, or pegged, to a stable asset such as the U.S. Dollar. Two of the most widely used stablecoins are:
USDC, which is designed to maintain a value of approximately 1 USD.
USDT, which is also designed to maintain a value of approximately 1 USD.
Stablecoins are commonly used for international payments because they allow people and businesses to move value across borders via blockchain networks.
How stablecoins work on Raenest
USDC and USDT now have their own dedicated wallets on Raenest. When someone sends you USDC or USDT, the funds are credited to the matching stablecoin wallet in your Raenest account. Unlike the previous stablecoin experience, incoming stablecoins are not automatically converted to USD. From your stablecoin wallet, you can:
Hold your USDC or USDT in its original form.
Receive stablecoins from another person or wallet.
Send stablecoins to an external wallet.
Convert stablecoins to USD, GBP, EUR, NGN, KES, or other available currencies.
Spend directly from your stablecoin balance with your Raenest card.
Earn on your USDC or USDT through Stablecoin Vault.
How to open your stablecoin wallet
Before you can receive, convert, spend, or send USDC or USDT, you'll need to create a stablecoin wallet. Setting one up takes less than a minute.
Open the Raenest app and tap Accounts.
Switch from the Global tab to the Stablecoin tab.
Select the stablecoin you want to use, USDC or USDT.
Follow the prompt to create your wallet.
Once your wallet is created, it will appear on your Stablecoin tab with its own balance, wallet address, and transaction history.
You can create both a USDC wallet and a USDT wallet. Each wallet keeps its own balance and transaction history.
How to receive stablecoins on Raenest
Once you've created your USDC or USDT wallet, you can use its wallet address to receive payments from another person or move funds in from another wallet.
To find your wallet address:
Open the Stablecoin tab.
Select the wallet you want to receive into, either USDC or USDT.
Your wallet address will appear on the wallet card.
Tap the address to copy it.
Share the address with the person sending you money.
Before a sender makes a transfer, make sure they're using a network your wallet supports. Using the wrong network can prevent the funds from arriving correctly.
Once received, your USDC or USDT stays in its corresponding stablecoin wallet rather than automatically converting to USD.
How to convert stablecoins on Raenest
Once received, you can convert your USDC or USDT into other currencies directly in the Raenest app. Here’s how to convert stablecoins on Raenest:
Tap Convert.
In You convert, select the currency you're converting from.
In You get, select the currency you want to receive.
Enter the amount.
Review the exchange rate, fee, and estimated arrival time.
Confirm your conversion.
You can convert USDC or USDT into available currencies, including USD, GBP, EUR, NGN, and KES.
How much does it cost to convert stablecoins?
The conversion fee depends on the currencies involved:
USD to USDC or USDT: 0.50%
USDC or USDT to USD: 0.50%
Other currencies to USDC or USDT: 0.70%
USDC or USDT to other currencies: 0.70%
The exact fee is shown before you confirm your conversion.
How to spend stablecoins with your Raenest card
We recently upgraded your Raenest card, and you can now spend your USDC and USDT directly with your card. This means you don't need to convert your stablecoins to USD to use them.
When you're ready to pay, simply choose the balance you want to spend, and your USDC or USDT balance will appear alongside your USD, GBP, EUR, and NGN balances. Once you select your stablecoin balance, your card draws directly from it to complete the payment, so there's no need to fund your card separately or pay card funding fees.
And because your Raenest card works anywhere Visa is accepted, you can use your USDC and USDT to pay online or in-store across more than 150 million merchants worldwide.
